La R850R dispose d’une prise allume cigare placée curieusement derrière l’alternateur en bas à gauche.
Je me suis toujours demandé à quoi cela pouvait bien servir.. jusqu’à ce que ma batterie, entre le froid polaire de ces dernières semaines et mes très nombreux démarrages (courts trajets) au cours de mes rendez-vous de ces derniers jours, ma batterie donc, décide de jeter l’éponge.
La batterie de la R850R (et sans doute de pas mal de BMW) est placée sous le réservoir extrêmement bien planquée (en clair inaccessible). J’avais naïvement envisagé d’utiliser des câbles avec pinces crocodile que j’ai dans la voiture, mais une batterie de moto c’est plus petit, les cosses sont petites et de toutes façon il n’est pas possible d’accéder à ces cosses avec des pinces.
Un coup de recherche sur divers forum répond à la fois à deux questions (comment charger la batterie? et A quoi sert la prise allume cigare si bizarrement placée ?). Cette prise allume cigare sert à la recharge.
Tous les possesseurs de BMW vouant un culte sans limite au chargeur de marque Optimate, j’ai commandé un Optimate 4 chez Rad.eu, une boutique en ligne belge sérieuse (le chargeur est arrivé dans les temps, la commande et le débit on été confirmés, suivi du colis en ligne etc..) pour 63 euros port compris avec la prise pour ma BMW.
L’Optimate 4 est fourni avec des connexions standards, la prise allume cigare pour BMW est une option.
La moto est en charge.. suspens…
Le soir même :c’est top. La doc annonçait environ 10 heures pour une recharge complète, j’ai branché à 10h, à 17h la batterie était chargée, les voyants de contrôle du chargeur au vert, bref tout baigne.
Ce système de prise allume-cigare et Optimate est vraiment top, pas besoin de mettre les mains dans le cambouis, c’est d’une simplicité absolue.

a priori, après les vacances ma R850R est en panne et au Tac Tac Tac qu’elle a fait avant de s’essoufler doucement je pense que c’est la batterie. Je vais donc acheter le chargeur Optimad 4 que vous recommandez chez Rad à 51€. En revanche, vous dites qu’il faut aussi prendre la prise allume cigare. S’agit il de l’accessoire DIN DC Plug ou d’un autre ? Pouvez vous me conseiller sur ce point, je ne suis pas un expert en la matière.
